Re: The official Donovan Mitchell thread

Mitchell averaging 20.0 pts on 46% shooting, 44% 3PT, 92% FT in last 5 games.

I don't know who said it but the future of the Jazz would be super bleak without Mitchell right now.

Have been thinking the same. Wish Exum was out there too. In reality we have Rudy who is a rare piece, so it's not as bleak as it could be... but yeah.

I really like Lindsey's ability to draft late, and pick out good players that is under performing in their current team like George Hill/Rubio.
Not ready to go through another year of rebuilding..
You're going back too far. Kanter and Hayward picks were under KOC's regime. Lindsey's first draft was Burke. But if you cherry-pick for Gobert and Mitchell, you also have to include Burke (which cost TWO picks), Lyles, and a wasted lottery pick to get Hill (caused by the failure to draft a PG out of Burke and Exum or sign one as a FA). Lindsey has had a couple of major successes. But he's also had some HUGE misses in the draft and free agency. And some of that losing MAY have made it MUCH easier for Hayward to walk.

Maybe he needs a Yellow light instead of a green light.

Well, no one else could shoot, either. It really is a conundrum when the decision is between three awful shooters on any given night. Kind of reminds me of the presidential election. I had to hold my nose and go with someone who had no chance since the two main choices were equally awful.

His misses were good misses. He wasn't jack-knifing up contested shots in the paint - he was getting open looks, most of them went half way down (or more) and then rolled out.

Do you think we might be asking too much of the kid?

Six 20+ point games in his second month as a pro.

If it wasn't for Ben Simmons we'd just about have a ROY on our hands.

I've never seen a rookie pick things up so quickly. He is able to take coaching and implement it right away. This is kid is special.

I shudder to think about how wasted Donovan Mitchell's talents would have been under Corbin. Getting yanked after every missed shot, and being told to "get better".
