  • Good to see East #8 will be 0.5+

East 8th seed will be above 0.500. I can't recall that happening in the last several years, so I dug up the standings from y! nba. Here's the 8th seed record in east and west.

    Chicago was 0.500 in 2009-10
New Jersey and Orlando were 2 games above in 04/05 and 02/03 resp.

    2011-12: NYK/PHI 33-30 (3 games to go) / Utah 34-30 (2 games to go)
    2010-11: Indiana 37-45 / Memphis 46-36
    2009-10: Chicago 41-41 / Oklahoma City 50-32
    2008-09: Detroit 39-43 / Utah 48-34
    2007-08: Atlanta 37-45 / Denver 50-32
    2006-07: Orlando 40-42 / Golden State 42-40
    2005-06: Milwaukee 40-42 / Sacramento 44-38
    2004-05: New Jersey 42-40 / Memphis 45-37
    2003-04: Boston 36-46 / Denver 43-39
    2002-03: Orlando 42-40 / Phoenix 44-38

Thanks for digging all that up. It's pretty much a miracle that the 8th seed in the east has a winning record.

Maybe they should consider re-shuffling the conferences
For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible.

West 8th seed has crossed 0.600 a couple of times

Geographical locations make it difficult to re-align, Styrmir... that is not the case in fantasy ;)

Two of those 3 years Jazz missed playoffs, we had better record than East #8:
        2003-04: 42-40 (Boston 36-46)
        2004-05: 26-56
        2005-06: 41-41 (Milwaukee 40-42)
